Russia was in 10th place in the ranking of tourist destination markets in 2020 according to the data of the National Tourism Data Center – announced the website of the Hungarian Tourism Agency.
They highlighted that Russian tourists came mainly to the capital (73 percent), where they spent 68 percent of all guest nights. After the capital, Hévíz was the most popular with a 16 percent guest night and Hajdúszoboszló with a 3 percent rate, they added.
Most Russians in the capital visited mainly the spas, followed by the most famous sights, such as the Buda Castle, the Parliament and the Heroes’ Square, they noted.
The Hungarian Tourism Agency also mentioned that the Russian guests came mainly from Moscow and St. Petersburg, mostly over 35 years of age. While Russian tourists aged 18-34 spent 4 nights in the country, those over 65 already spent an average of 6 nights.
More than half of the visitors stayed in hotels, 32 percent chose private and other accommodation, they detailed. Most people spent on accommodation between the ages of 35 and 44, more than 933 million forints, and specifically the spending of the oldest was the highest.
